Check out our new Action Items focused on 2024 Australian Open Champion Jannik Sinner and his coach Darren Cahill. From the beginning, it was clear that Jannik Sinner had two things that separated him from the rest; an uncanny ability to hit the tennis ball, and a perspective far beyond his years.
We’ll never forget a quote from Sinner after losing a heartbreaker to Daniil Medvedev in 2021.
“Compared to last year I have improved enormously, but there’s so much to do. It’s as if I’m trying to become a chef: now I’m peeling carrots and potatoes. But at least I’m in the kitchen. Last year I was outside the kitchen.”
Once Sinner joined forces with Darren Cahill his game began to ascend rapidly. A great deal of the Italian’s success should be attributed to Cahill, who has now helped four players– Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt, Simona Halep, and Sinner– reach the pinnacle of their sport. If Sinner was peeling potatoes in 2021, he’s now the Head Chef.
In this content update, we’ve included a phenomenal interview with Cahill from Exo Sports (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYfw-Mh8xtg) about the importance of understanding your players in a multitude of ways. Cahill explains that if you give the exact same shot to various players, they will do completely different things with the ball based on their game style and ability to handle certain situations.
